This Privacy Policy explains how Skyline Backpackers (“Skyline Backpackers”, “we”, “us”) — a hostel operated as a sole proprietorship (MSME; Udyam Reg. No. UDYAM-TS-02-0241702) at Above ICICI Bank, 3rd Floor, Sindhi Colony, Secunderabad, Telangana 500003 — handles the personal information of guests who use our website https://skylinebackpackers.vercel.app and our booking and check-in services. By using the site or booking a stay, you agree to this policy.
1. Who we are
Skyline Backpackers provides short-stay dormitory bed bookings. For any privacy question or request, contact us at booking@skylinebackpackers.in or +91 90327 97797.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact & identity: your name, mobile number, and (if provided) email address, used to create your account and manage your booking.
- Optional profile details: gender, date of birth, and address, where you choose to provide them.
- Co-guest details: when you book more than one bed, the names and (if given) age, gender, and phone of the additional guests in your party. Please share these only with those guests’ consent.
- Booking details: the beds, dates, plan, and add-ons you select.
Identity verification at check-in
As required for guest accommodation in India, our staff visually verify a valid government photo ID (such as Aadhaar, Passport, or Driving Licence) when you check in. We record only a yes/no “verified” status — we do not scan, upload, or store a copy of your ID document.
Payment information
Payments are processed by our payment gateway, Razorpay. Your card, UPI, or bank details are entered directly with Razorpay and never reach or get stored on our servers. We retain only non-sensitive transaction references (order/payment IDs, amount, and method type) to confirm and reconcile your booking.
Information collected automatically
- Usage & device data: via Google Analytics — pages viewed, approximate (non-precise) location, browser/device type, and similar aggregate statistics.
- Cookies & local storage: a browser session store keeps your in-progress booking; our sign-in provider (Firebase) stores your login session; Google Analytics sets measurement cookies. See “Cookies” below.
- Security logs: for staff/admin sign-ins we log the IP address and browser to protect the back office.
3. How we use your information
- To create your account, take payment, and confirm and manage your booking.
- To send you booking confirmations, invoices, and check-in/check-out reminders over WhatsApp and SMS, and one-time passwords (OTP) for login.
- To verify identity at check-in and keep our guests and premises safe.
- To process cancellations and refunds in line with our Refund Policy.
- To improve the website and our services, and to meet legal and tax obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Who we share it with
We share data only with service providers that help us run the service, under their respective terms:
- Razorpay — payment processing.
- Google Firebase (and reCAPTCHA) — login, OTP, and bot protection.
- AiSensy / WhatsApp — to deliver booking messages and your invoice.
- Supabase — our database and secure file storage (e.g. invoice PDFs).
- Google Analytics — website analytics.
- Vercel & Render — website and application hosting.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, guests, or property.
5. Cookies & tracking
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies: a session store for your in-progress booking, a login session from Firebase, and Google Analytics measurement cookies. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the booking flow may then not work as expected.
6. How long we keep it
We keep booking, payment, and invoice records for as long as needed to provide the service and to comply with accounting, tax, and legal requirements. Other personal data is kept while your account is active or as needed for the purposes above, after which it is removed or anonymised on request.
7. Your rights
Subject to applicable Indian law (including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you may request to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or withdraw a consent you previously gave. To make a request, email booking@skylinebackpackers.in. We may need to verify your identity, and we may retain records we are legally required to keep.
8. Security
We protect your data with measures including HTTPS encryption in transit, restricted access to the admin system, signed (time-limited) links for invoice files, and verified, tokenised payments through Razorpay. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information.
9. Children
Our services are intended for guests aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children without a parent or guardian.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows the most recent revision; please review it periodically.
